I am 23 years old. I live in Northern California and have pretty my entire life. I used to work full time, but am now a SAHM. I believe that breastfeeding is a born right; and in attachment parenting, but not in the crazy sort of way some people portray it as. I am also a believer in firm discipline. I am very opinionated, stubborn, and too full of pride for my own good. I can be sarcastic, cynical, and a complete pessimist. But I am also timid, shy, and very loyal and caring towards my loved ones, I try to be upbeat and show them the positive side, even if I can't always see it myself. I am a very private person, I write a lot on my journal but everything is friend's only, and I'm cautious about adding anyone new.
John
John is 24 years old. He's a wonderful chef, husband, and an amazing father. My son may not be his, but you would never know; he is devoted, caring, and loving. My son calls him "Papa" and "Daddy" - and when we can afford any possible court battles, we plan on making it legal. As I said, he's a chef. He went to the Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, he's worked for some really fancy restaurants and was rated 3 1/2 stars while he was still in school. We are very much alike and not alike in personalities. This is good and bad. We clash a lot, but make up quickly, forgive, and understand each other. We play off each other really well and give each other a ton of crap just about daily. We met July 6, 2006. It may not have been that long ago, but it feels like we've known each other much longer...and because of that, we ended up planning our lives together fairly early on.
Elijah
Elijah is 4 years old. He is definatly the light of my life. A lot of times, the only reason I would get up in the morning, or function at all. I had him three days before I turned 19. I haven't seen his father since I was 5 months pregnant. I managed most of my single parenthood with the financial help of my mom, and no physical or emotional support from anyone. We co-slept and breastfed until he was over 2 years old. I've raised him with my heart and a little help from a few books. He was born with a congenital heart defect. It was found when he was 2 weeks old and when he was 4 weeks old he had closed heart surgery. I stayed with him for 2 weeks in the hospital; rarely leaving his side. The doctors at UCDMC did a wonderful job and other than doctor's orders of no physical contact sports, he's completely healthy. He does have problems with delayed speech but he has been improving in the last year with leaps and bounds. Other then that, he's an extremely smart little boy who is quickly growing into a confidant, outspoken, jokester..and I love him to death. He is, by far, the most well behaved little boy John or I have ever encoutered, and I am extremely proud of him. He absolutely adores his new baby sister and is a wonderful big brother.
Amelia
Amelia was born April 28, 2008 at 9:13 pm. She was 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 20 inches long. She was born one day shy of 42 weeks, but was well worth the wait. She looks a lot like Elijah did as a baby with a mix of John and I. To my surprise she has light colored hair with a blonde tint and hazey green eyes. She is a wonderfully well tempered baby and I cannot wait to see her little personality emerge.
I breastfed my son for over 2 years, and am currently exclusively breastfeeding my daughter. It makes me happy to know that I was breastfed and even my husband was breastfed. I believe all children should be and I get giddy when I see a woman feeding her child the natural way in public, especially without blankets.
